We have a professional cleaning service that we can carry out on site in your home or business to clean and refresh your existing floor covering. Rugs can be dropped in at the showroom and picked up at a later date.

Where possible, we can re-fit carpets either from one room to another, or if you have brought your beloved carpet from your previous home. All we ask is that you are realistic with your expectations.

We can, at your request, bring a collection of samples to your home if you are unable to visit our showroom. Please be aware, however, that we have thousands of floor coverings to choose from, and would ask that you be as specific as you can with your request so we can bring the most appropriate selection of samples.

Unlike some national carpet firms, at FCS we offer free delivery on all carpets that we fit. The only time when may charge you is if we are asked to deliver a cash-n-carry remnant outside the Fishguard/Goodwick area.

We offer a comprehensive fitting service with our floor coverings, and would always recommend that you choose this option, as amateur attempts at carpet-fitting can result in dangerous hazards such as exposed joins and concealed cables. Capable DIY enthusiasts may be able to do the job themselves but the result is rarely as good or as professional as that achieved by a time-served fitter. All our fitters are fully trained experts and will ensure that your new carpet looks and feels it’s best by creating an even surface with a perfect fit.

During the Fitting

Having a new carpet fitted can be a disruptive process, but our fitters will do their best to make sure that the job is completed as quickly and smoothly as possible. There are, however, a few things that you can do to make things easier.

  • We ask that you move as much furniture as you can, including treasured possessions such as crockery and ornaments before the fitting. We understand that this can be a problem for the elderly, disabled and single people, so please let our estimator know of any problems you may have with clearing the area. The estimator will then note any large items of furniture down, and this information will be passed on to the fitters.

Most craftsmen are best left alone to get on with the job. However, a cup of tea is always welcome and will give you a chance to discuss the job with the fitters.

When choosing a new carpet there are several things you need to consider. You may want to ask yourself these questions to help you decide:

  • How much wear will the carpet have to cope with? For example, hallways and areas with heavy traffic will need a more hardwearing carpet than for a bedroom or lightly used area.
  • Do you have children, pets or allergies? If so, you may want to consider a carpet with built in stain resistance or vinyl flooring that will not harbour allergens.
  • How will the carpet fit in with your colour scheme? A carpet can really draw the scheme of a room together. You may want to consider whether the carpet should be patterned or plain, pale or dark, so that it complements your existing decoration. For that reason we will always allow and encourage you to take samples home (at no charge) as you then ensure they fit in with your colour scheme.
